Matthew Wu

Principal Flute

Matthew Wu was born in Jiangxi in China. He graduated with honours from the Guangzhou Xinhai Conservatory of Music and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 1997 he received the Rachel Percival Scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where he completed a Postgraduate Diploma and a Licentiate in flute performance. Matthew Wu is Principal Flautist and a founding member of City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong since 2000. As Founder and Chairman of the Hong Kong Flute Association and the Hong Kong Flute Academy he is also dedicated to flute education in Hong Kong. He teaches at The Education University of Hong Kong and gives regular recitals and recordings for RTHK Radio 4. He has also organised and presented major flute events, collaborating with internationally acclaimed flautists including Peter-Lukas Graf, Paul Edmund-Davies, Vincent Lucas and Emmanuel Pahud.

胡永彥

首席長笛

胡永彥出生於中國江西省,先後以優等成績畢業於廣州星海音樂學院及香港演藝學院。胡永彥於1997年獲波斯富獎學金赴倫敦市政廳音樂及戲劇學院深造並取得研究生文憑和長笛演奏証書。他從2000年起擔任香港城市室樂團長笛首席,為樂團創團成員。他亦是香港長笛協會和香港長笛藝術學院的創辦人和主席,致力推動長笛音樂發展。胡永彥現任教於香港教育大學,他定期舉行獨奏會並為香港電台第四台錄音。多年來胡氏邀請了多位世界級長笛演奏家來港合作舉辦多個音樂活動,如瑞士國寶級長笛大師彼得盧卡斯格拉夫、文生盧卡、艾文戴維斯及帕胡德。
