Born in Hong Kong, Samuel Bin began piano and violin studies at an early age with Tsui Lap-li, Poon Ting-leung and Jason Ho. He has won prizes in several competitions, including the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and the Hong Kong Youth Violin Competition. In 2004 he entered the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts (HKAPA) to study violin performance with Ho Hong-ying and chamber music with Michael Ma and Ray Wang. He also studied conducting, choral conducting and music therapy. Samuel graduated from the HKAPA in 2009 with a Diploma in Violin Performance and a Bachelor Degree in Music. He also holds a DipABRSM from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. He has performed in numerous masterclasses with well known violinists such as Lin Cho-liang, Anne Shih and Charles Castleman. Samuel has performed with many different organizations in Hong Kong including the Hong Kong Strings. In 2006, as a representative of Hong Kong, he joined the Chinese University Students' Symphony Orchestra and performed with the pianist Lang Lang. Besides performing, Samuel teaches at the Yip's Children's Choral and Performing Arts Centre, the Yao Jue Music Academy among others. He became a member of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong in 2009.
