Raymond Vong, principal percussion
Raymond Vong was born in Macao. He is an active performer on percussion both in Macau and in Hong Kong. He holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree and a Master of Music Degree with distinction from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He won First Prize (with Honours) at the Macau Youth Music Competition in 2004 and toured to different cities in Mainland China, Japan and Vietnam as a member of the Asian Youth Orchestra in 2007 and 2008. As an orchestral musician he has performed with The Macao Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the North Carolina Orchestra in the USA. Raymond Vong has given many percussion solo and ensemble concerts in Hong Kong, Macau and China, and has particpated in numerous music festivals around the world including the Nancy Zeltsman Marimba Festival in Wisconsin and the Brevard Music Festival in North Carolina. He serves on the faculty of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and is the Executive Director of the Macau Percussion Association. He has been a core player of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong since 2013.
