Anthony Wong, principal clarinet
Anthony Wong was born in Hong Kong. He graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1997 and received his Master in Music degree from the State University of New York in 1999. His teachers included Martin Choy, Michael Campbell, Ayako Oshima and Charles Neidich. He has appeared as a soloist, in chamber groups, and in orchestras around the world, and has also been invited to perform in numerous music festivals and tours, such as the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival at Yale, the Asian Youth Orchestra, the Musicarama Contemporary Music Festival, Le French May, and the ISCM World Music Days. He performs frequently as Guest Principal Clarinetist with the Macau Chamber Orchestra and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and has also performed with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Anthony is a founding member of the Hong Kong Wind Kamerata, and has appeared in chamber concerts with members from the New York Woodwind Quintet, the Hamburg New Music Ensemble, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra orchestra and the Luxemburg Sinfonietta. He joined the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong as Principal Clarinetist in 2000, and is currently a faculty member of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Institute of Education. He has been invited to adjudicate and give masterclasses and workshops in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
